Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have finally been brave enough to enter a charity race after having been given a boost by others who are equally as brave/stupid! It's a proper race on proper thoroughbred racehorses on a proper racecourse. But with all donations and support for the race going to a brilliant local charity who provide support and help for terminally ill people and their families in the Hereford area.  It might sound quite straightforward but anyone who has ever done this or rides out regularly will know how much hard work it actually is.  Suffice to say I was wondering if it would be ok if I just flopped off the horse still galloping at speed about 200m before finishing the track (which was about half the distance of the race) because I was too exhausted to keep going the first time I was put to the test again recently.  And that was without having 11 other thoroughbreds charging beside me and horses trying to bolt off into the distance or trying to actually attempt to make the horse go faster!

I'm going to be riding 3 or 4 lots a day for the next couple of months and gyming plenty.  Thank you very very much to everyone who has offered their help with horses/riding out/equicisors/shouting at me at the gym. I'm extremely appreciative and hope all the hard work pays off and I manage to get round in one piece with me and the horse both crossing the line at the same time.

St Michael's Hospice is a wonderful charity who have teamed up with the local racecourse to put on this event.  They provide a vast array of services and support for terminally ill patients and their family. They have 'home from home' inpatient facilities, the option of providing care at home, complementary therapies and counselling amongst many other things.

Any donations would be very very very very much appreciated. And if any one is free on the 26th March and would like to come to Hereford Racecourse to cheer me on/tell me everything will be ok when I'm put in the ambulance then that would be very nice too!

Thank you!
