Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm now well enough to undertake a long haul flight to Australia, a country I've always wanted to visit let alone the relatives and friends that we will be able to see there too.

It's almost a year since I came home from hospital, in a wheelchair and needing full time personal care following a series of neuro surgeries to correct hydrocephalus. This was likely caused by viral meningitis in 2013. I've worked very hard with my husband & therapists to improve my mobility, attending gym & pilates sessions as well as exercising at home. I have passed my driving assessment & reduced walking aids to just an occasional walking stick.

I am now personally independent at home and enjoy swimming and virtual reality physiotherapy at BASIC ( Brain And Spinal Injury Centre in Salford) It is another huge personal challenge to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge whist we're in Australia in April. By doing so I will raise funds for BASIC, an innovative and groundbreaking charity.
