Story
On Saturday 29 October I finished my challenge of climbing 542 Lake District summits - the 'Birketts' and the 'Wainwrights' after walking over 750 miles on 86 separate days.
My aim was to do them all this year (it ended up taking under 10 months) to raise money for Cancer Research UK, which does so much important work.
I asked supporters to pledge 10 pence per summit, which is why so many of the donations are for the rather odd amount of £54.20. The website at www.542in2016.org.uk has accounts of all the walks and (I think!) some cracking photographs of the scenery I've been lucky enough to walk through this year.
Please donate whatever you can - it doesn't need to be 10p per summit - and share this with your friends.
* One Birkett - Pillar Rock - is a proper rock climb which I didn't manage. But I did do the two Wainwrights that aren't Birketts - Castle Crag and Mungrisdale Common - making 542 summits in all.
