Story

A team of passionate golfers from Hill Billy are swapping their clubs for
their bike and their golf apparel for goat costumes in a virtual cycle
challenge that will see them cover the distance between the brand’s headquarters in Kent and the 2016 Open Championship venue, Royal Troon Golf Club – all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The ten-strong team will take it in turns to complete long stints on an exercise bike in warm temperatures as they look to complete 425 miles within 24 hours in a 6ft, fluffy, Hill Billy goat costume.

Wearing a costume that honours the brand’s logo, the Hill Billy team are set to start the charity challenge on Thursday 7th July, cycling through
the night in a special gym being created for the occasion, before finishing up on the Friday, just days before action gets underway at the 145th  Open Championship.

Raising vital money for Macmillan Cancer Support – the charity that already generates thousands of pounds through its Longest Day Golf Challenge – Hill Billy will also be updating fans on its fearless team’s training programme by posting regular updates on social media in the build up to the big day in July.

“It’s certainly going to be pretty tough on the legs and there’s no doubt every one of us taking part in the challenge has a lot of training to do,” said Mei Tierney, Hill Billy Marketing Manager. “We’re looking forward to raising some funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, a truly fantastic charity that helps so many people when they need it most.

“Although we’re all keen golfers, some of us can’t make it up to The Open Championship to watch the action, so we thought this was a fitting challenge to help us feel a part of what is the biggest tournament on the golfing calendar,” added Tierney.

Ryan Pitts, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for Kent, said; “Every day a staggering 27 people in Kent hear the devastating news they have cancer, and 12 people die from the illness. That’s why the support of Hill Billy is so vital for us to continue to provide support to cancer patients and their families in Kent and beyond. A massive thank you to everyone at the company for taking on the challenge and raising funds for Macmillan.”

If you would like to donate it would be extremely warmly welcomed!

Thanks,

The Hill Billy team
