In memory of Adam Sanders
We raise money to improve the lives of sports tetraplegics

Story

So we are going to cycle 500 MILES in 6 DAYS!! We know we are crazy and there are many of you that probably are thinking that we can’t do it – but this is our target and something that we are going to achieve (and yes feel free to make all the puns you like about the two fat hairy cyclists).

We are raising money for 2 charities, Help for Heroes and Regain Sports Charity. The total sum of money we raise will be shared equally between them.

We are starting our sponsored cycle ride in RAF Lossiemouth, North Scotland, on Sunday 21 July and will finish in Hereford City Sports Club, West Midlands, on Friday 26 July. A full itinerary of our challenge and cycle route is included on this page.

Our reasons for doing this event and raising money for these charities is/are varied and many. Firstly, we lost a very good friend last year, Adam ‘Maverick’ Sanders, he sadly lost his life in a training exercise whilst based at RAF Lossiemouth. This ride will mark a year on since we said goodbye to Adam and really hope that this event will do not only him, but his family and friends proud as he was such an inspirational person to everyone he touched. Due to our relationship with Maverick and other family members and close friends who are still serving in the armed forces, we strongly believe that the work H4H does is a very worthwhile cause and deserves all the help they can get.

Another reason for setting ourselves this unbelievable challenge is due to our passion and love for sport. We have both enjoyed many years of playing a variety of sports but a main focus has always been Rugby. Are friendship started with us both playing in the front row together almost 16 years ago and we are very aware of the dangers that this sport in particular our positions carries. We feel passionate about supporting Regains work with sports men and women who suffered serious injuries whilst playing the sport we love.

We hope that the combination of the great work that H4H and Regain Charities do and the hellish challenge that this hooker and prop forward combination are putting themselves through will lead to you digging deep and supporting our event.

About the charity

Regain is the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to improving the independence of all British men & women who have become tetraplegic as a result of a sporting or leisure accident. A tetraplegic is unable to walk and has limited reach & dexterity because use of the arms is severely impaired.
