Story

Of all the challenges and fundraising I've done, this will undoubtedly be the hardest. In fact, it's taken me days to even write this. I've tried to talk myself out of it repeatedly, and questioned my ability to do it, but there's no way I can walk away from this wonderful, crazy opportunity. The truth is, I owe St Peter's Hospice a huge debt I can never repay. The amazing nurses, carers and counsellors at the Brentry Hospice looked after my mum in December 2006 as she died from Pancreatic Cancer, aged 54. It was sudden, wrenching and awful, but I will always remember the kindness and care given to her by the staff there. I want to do as much as I possibly can to raise money in her memory, because she is still so missed and loved. I want to enable St Peter's to continue to support other families around Bristol when they are faced with the most difficult experiences of their lives.

You probably know all about St Peter's Hospice, seeing as its Bristol's only adult hospice. It's a charity which has touched thousands of lives in Bristol. Amazingly, all care is provided free of charge, but it costs £20,000 per day to provide that care. In the 12 years since mum passed away, you've helped me by donating to St Peter's instead of birthday presents and wedding gifts. Each time I was touched by your generosity, and so grateful I have such wonderful people in my life. I feel like I want to get my teeth into a big challenge- the biggest I've ever tried- and so I need your help again. It has long been a dream of mine to trek The Great Wall of China and the opportunity to do it while raising money for this wonderful charity seemed perfect.

I plan on funding as much of the trip myself as I can, including flights, accommodation, kit and visa, and the very vast majority of all your donations will be going directly to St Peter's. If you don't feel able to support the charity financially, there are many other ways you can (such as upcoming quiz nights, accompanying me on training hikes and helping at car boot sales!) so please don't feel any pressure. I genuinely thank you for all support, both financial and moral.

Lots of love,

Bonnie xx
