My Story:

I have been an avid and very fit cyclist for the past 27 years. In December 2016, I was rather unexpectedly diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma; which is a cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow. I spent all of 2017 receiving treatment, culminating in an Autologous Stem Cell Transplant on December 4, 2017. I had a very good response to the transplant and I'm currently in remission and continue to receive maintenance therapy to help lengthen the duration of the remission. 

Myeloma is the 2nd most common blood cancer in the world. There are approximately 229,460 people living with Myeloma world wide and 114,250 new cases are diagnosed yearly. There is currently no known cure for Myeloma and most patients eventually relapse; requiring treatment to start anew. There have been many exciting advances in Myeloma research over the past 10 years, but continued research is needed to find a cure.

This September 26-29, 2019 I plan on participating in the Myeloma UK London to Paris Bike Ride to raise awareness and benefit Myeloma research. The ride is 500km over four days, finishing in the heart of Paris. As a cyclist, this represents a dream ride for me. As a Myeloma patient, the funds generated for research represent the hope for a cure. 

Your generous donation toward advancing Myeloma research will benefit not only me, but all Myeloma patients worldwide. It is my hope that through continued research, a cure will be discovered soon. Until then, I will continue to fight on with the determination and endurance that has successfully gotten me through these past two years.
