Story

On Sunday 16 June 2019 the Cremarc team will be cycling one
of the many iconic British cycling routes, London to Brighton, in support of the British Heart Foundation.

Your kind sponsorship will help raise money for the important work of the British Heart Foundation, whose dedicated teams carry out exceptional work every day to keep young and old hearts beating for longer.

With only a few weeks to go until the big event, training
has entered a more important phase for the whole team as they strain every sinew in preparation. Don't miss out on the latest training information from the team on our feed.

Who are the team and why are they doing it?

Phil Davies:
I recently learnt that it's been used since 1976 by the British Heart Foundation for their flagship fund-raising bike ride.

I have had a lot of fun training, using the commute from Farnham to Weybridge 3 x a week. I'm very much looking forward to raising as
much money as possible for a good cause and riding the glorious route, which I anticipate will be up there as one of the best rides I’ll do this year.

Chris Devine:
At the age of 50, I decided it was time I dragged my sorry backside off the couch, eat a bit less and move a bit more.

Any regrets? Absolutely not!  I've been cycling regularly for a few years now and when the guys spoke about BHF and the London Brighton Bike ride I jumped at it.  It's a fun challenge for a great cause so I'm really looking forward to it.

Geoffrey Eagland:
Why am I putting myself through this, you ask?  The cause is important, of course, and like most people I have had far too many friends and family succumb to heart problems.  If I can raise a few bob to help, so much the better: it’s the least I can do.

But if I’m honest it’s a more a sense of ‘Use it, or lose it!’.   Like many I started cycling in late middle age after not having swung my leg over the saddle for many years. Made a number of long summer trips, then got out of the habit.  So this is a good opportunity to see whether I’m still up to it.  But in the end it’s really just a great day out with good friends.

Chris Homewood:
By the end of last year I’d made a few big changes in my life: changed jobs, bought my first house etc. As the year passed me by I felt a niggling feeling that I hadn’t got as much out of my time as I would’ve liked; I’m normally a sporty person but felt I needed some challenges to focus on in 2019, so when the team mentioned they were doing London to Brighton I jumped at the chance!

I’m really looking forward to the race and raising some much
needed funds for a great cause.
