We care for and educate vulnerable children to help them heal, grow and learn.

Story

We are delighted to announce that our charity partner for the 2019 Buccleuch Property Challenge is Seamab School.

Based in Rumbling Bridge, Kinross, this truly unique school is  dedicated to transforming the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in Scotland.

Seamab specialises in looking after children aged five to 13 from all over Scotland who have experienced trauma, neglect, violence or loss and who, as a result, need additional support. They can currently accommodate 15 residential students and three day placements who usually stay for between two and four years depending on their needs. Seamab continues to support the children up to the age of 18. Here, they have access to teachers, carers and therapists who are able to attend to their individual needs. Each child has a nominated key worker and a bespoke plan, which they help to create themselves.

Joy has always lived here and Safe is warm and friendly. Free climbs the trees and Hope is never lost. Brave keeps a watchful eye over everyone while Calm has an influence that we all benefit from. And Hug... he's always there when we need him.

Seamab is a place of opportunity, love and support for children who have had a difficult start. This is only possible due to the dedication of the 80-strong team. We are pleased to offer a small amount of support to this worthy cause through our fundraising efforts and we would be thrilled with any contribution towards this.

Fun and adventure is an important part of all children's lives and the children at Seamab are no different. Here is a list of Epic Adventures showing how your donations can be used:

  • A donation of £10 could buy water proof trousers or jacket to keep dry when out on mountain bike.
  • donation of £20 could buy a cycle helmet keeping children safe when cycling.
  • donation of £50 could pay for a session at the dry ski slope for a class of children starting them on their journey to learn to ski.

  • A donation of £100 could pay for a class of children to take part in a surfing lesson, building resilience, physical strength.
  • A donation of £225 could buy a tent used on camping trips across Scotland.
  • donation of £480 could give a child the opportunity to learn to swim, a lifesaving ability.

  • donation of £1,000 could pay for a child to attend a sports club of their choice such as gymnastics, football or ski-ing, giving them a chance to develop a healthy interest for life.
  • donation of £1,500 could pay for 3 children to attend brownies or scouts for a year, enabling them to build friendships outside of Seamab, learn new skills and learn about teamwork.
  • donation of £2,000 could buy an electric bike which would help our children build their physical strength, resilience and can do attitude.

All of this contributes to changing the perception our children have of themselves from feeling worthless to feeling confident, resilient young people ready to learn and thrive with a future to look forward too.

Thank you!
