Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A year after returning from the South Pole I underwent surgery for prostate cancer. Which one, you may well ask, was the toughest... the South Pole or the cancer? Well... certainly they both were a severe facing of self and mortality! Anyhow the surgery was a great success and I'm pretty much back into grabbing every moment of life and appreciating it to the full.
I'm now into heavy training for climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain on Sept 21st, U.N.Peace Day, to speak out Peace Messages in our 'Climb For Tibet' way (see www.climbfortibet.org). So far I've walked 200 miles across Scotland on The Great Outdoors Challenge with fellow prostate sufferer Tony Richardson and have just completed almost the same distance walking up the Loir Valley in France with Tess.
With this particular climb I would like to show that quality of life does not have to end with cancer, indeed it can lead to an enhancement; and also that it is crucial for men to have check-ups so that prostate cancer can be picked up at an early stage and treated for 100% recovery.
Please help me 'give back' to those who are carrying out the vital research to help people cope with this condition
Please sponsor my climb on Kilimanjaro
Thank you so much for donating in this way to the Prostate Cancer Research Centre
