CPMG Charity Walk 2017 - The Dark Peak Challenge

Since 2009, when over 40 people successfully completed the 42 gruelling miles of the Lyke Wake Walk across the North Yorkshire Moors in aid of Breast Cancer Care, the CPMG Charity Walk has become an annual event, attracting participation and support from individuals and businesses across the East Midlands.

After last year's hugely successful White Peak Challenge, for 2017 we are going to the dark side, with The Dark Peak Challenge, a supported 27 mile circular walk around the Vale of Edale, starting from Castleton and taking in some of Derbyshire's most stunning and iconic scenery, including Mam Tor, Rushup Edge, Kinder Scout and Ladybower Reservoir.

As usual, the walk will be amply supported by our famous mobile tuck-shop at regular checkpoints along the way!

The Matt Hampson Foundation

For 2017 we have chosen to fundraise in support of the Matt Hampson Foundation. We were particularly inspired by the story of Matt's response to paralysis from the neck down during a training session for the England Rugby U21s in 2005, and how his 'Get Busy Living' ethos has since led to the establishment of the Matt Hampson Foundation which does sterling work helping people with serious injuries and disabilities:

"Our aim is to provide advice, support, relief and/or treatment for anyone suffering serious injury or disability which has arisen from any cause, but in particular from participation in or training for any sport, sporting activity or other form of physical education or recreation. We assist individuals by offering direct grants or by paying into existing and future funds to assist with equipment, technology or just every day expenses."

We are therefore aiming to raise in excess of £3,500 to support the Foundation's work - please donate generously if you can.
