Fundraising for The Sick Children's Trust
Story

Following my commitment to set myself a challenge to raise money for a Charity that is now close to our hearts. First off I needed to set myself a challenge that would truly be just that "A Challenge".......my weight has always been difficult to get down! Yes I do love Chocolate, wine and all the naughty things in life and it doesn't help that I'm not a big fan of exercising! So I've committed to dropping 5 stone within 12 months and hope to raise awareness and money along the way.
We stayed in "Scott House" which is an accommodation block behind the hospital, provided to families of seriously sick children at the Freeman's hospital in Newcastle. The accommodation was like staying in a hotel, but with a "home from home" feel. The staff were fantastic and offer a huge amount of support to parents.
We were amazed to find out that we didn't have to pay a penny to stay, which for some families takes away a huge financial burden at a time when life can be stressful enough.
The accommodation is fully funded by "The Sick Children's Trust" but without Charity work these services will not continue.
Abigail had open heart surgery, and being able to stay as a family together really made life so much easier. She is home now doing really well, but for me it doesn't just end there. It's been a life changing experience and I can not get out of my mind that some families are not so lucky, some will need the support of "The Sick Children's Trust" for a lot longer than we did.
