Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running the London marathon for riding for the disabled, the RDA support children and adults with disabilities.

My daughter Darcey was born with many life threatening conditions she has Charge syndrome, tetralogy of fallot, profoundly deaf and is missing both semi circular ear canals which means she has no natural balance. Darcey has had 3 open heart surgeries and numerous amount of other surgeries, she take it all in her stride and never complains.

Darcey has been riding with the RDA for just over a year now, she started when she was 2 and 1/2 when she started she wasn't able to walk and struggled to control her upper body. After riding for 4 months Darcey was able to walk and the improvement in her body control was amazing. Riding brings something truely magical to Darcey, she cannot participate In other activities due to balance and other issues but riding she is able to do. Its lovely to see her achieve this and feel like a normal child once a week. The therapy the horses and ponies provide is just Brilliant you wouldn't belive these horses change people's lives so much. I want to raise as much as I can so others can have the opportunity to work with these amazing horses and the facilities to accommodate many different needs. This charity wouldn't be able to operate if it wasn't for kind donations and the wonderful Doctors, Physio and everyone else who give up their time and lends their horses and ponies to help.

Darcey is now nearly 7 and still gains so much from riding for the disabled, it enables her to feel like a normal child. Darcey has gained so much strength and confidence from riding I can’t express how much its helped her. It is an amazing charity that brings so much happiness to many disabled people.
