By sponsoring my weight loss, you can help us provide new opportunities to girls and young women through our Guiding Overseas Linked with Development (GOLD) project in Zambia.

This summer, I travel with 5 other young women to meet Leaders from Girl Guides Zambia to train them in leadership, team work and confidence; some of the attributes I have gained from volunteering with Girlguiding. We hope to pass on ideas and skills for recruiting and retaining young members and volunteers so more girls in Zambia can enjoy the possibilities available to them in guiding. 

Over our three week trip, we will also meet young members and support them to develop their confidence and assertiveness. We'll also work to give them the skills and ability to advocate on matters that affect them. Giving girls and young women a voice, the confidence to use it and an environment where using it makes a difference is so important to us. I have a feeling its going to be my best but most challenging guiding adventure so far. 

Sponsoring me to lose weight will help me raise the £2450 needed to go and also prepare a healthier, fitter version of myself for travel. Finally, losing some weight will mean I'll cope with the heat better, be more comfortable on the plane (9 hours), pack more clothes in my suitcase and less sun cream and the list goes on...!!!
