We are all staff members at The Chantry School in Martley, Worcestershire and we feel privileged to have known,
as one of our pupils, Anna Wilkinson. For those of you who haven’t heard Anna’s story; she was diagnosed with a brain tumour just before her final year at our school. During this year she underwent serious treatments and yet many people
were unaware of what she was going through. This wasn’t because they didn’t care, it was because Anna showed such courage, consideration for others and a down-to-earth determination to enjoy life to the full, that she appeared exactly the same on the outside as she always had been. It was incredible to witness such a range of positive qualities in the face of personal challenge. Unfortunately, Anna lost her battle in January 2016.

To remember Anna and to celebrate her positivity, we have chosen to run the Worcester Half Marathon on May 21^st 2017 and raise money for The Mockingbird Trust set up by Anna’s family.

Children with life-limiting conditions often spend a lot of their time at hospital appointments and undergoing treatment. We know that the focus at this time can be on the medical condition, and this can make it extremely difficult for families to find the time and energy to arrange special experiences for them all to enjoy together. The Mockingbird Trust, aims to arrange trips and events for the whole family, taking the organisational and financial strain away in the hope of giving some relief from the daily stresses being faced.

The effort which we will need to succeed in the challenge of running a half marathon reflects perfectly the resilience and determination shown by Anna.

For many of us, this will be the first time we have run for a very long time, hence choosing a significant distance. Please donate to help us celebrate an exceptional girl – Anna.
