Cancer has unfortunately become part of so many people's lives, in particular my own, and the work that Cancer Care do helps to support the network of people that are affected when a loved one is diagnosed, not just the patient themselves.

Everest in the Alps is a ski-touring challenge based in Verbier, Switzerland. The challenge is to climb the height of Everest on skis, in the mountains, over 4 days. It's a place where I have spent many happy days and has a special place in my heart.

Described as the toughest four days on skis, I'll be clocking up the metres to face the height of Everest for the ultimate winter endurance challenge.

It’s a gruelling event which involves approximately up to 40 hours of ski touring, with up to a total of 20 individual ascents over 4 days. Each day I'll climb between 2,000m – 2,500m to reach the overall target of 8,848m. The average amount of time out on the snow is 11 hours a day, but it can be longer – however long it takes to keep on track. At altitudes of up to 3,500m, I will burn through a daily average of 10,000 calories – the equivalent of running three back-to-back marathons.

Everest stands at 8848m, and i aim to raise a pound for every metre I have to climb - so £8848 altogether. Please show your support and help me raise awareness for something that means so very much to me.
