Story
I am a 49 year old Mum of two, in August 2015 I was diagnosed with Stage 1, Grade 3 Breast Cancer. 8 months, 1 operation, 4 rounds of chemotherapy and 20 blasts of radiotherapy later I am pleased to say I am free from this vile disease. In order to mark the end of my treatment, to say thank you to the many people who have been by my side throughout this ordeal, to raise awareness of Breast Cancer and the need to self examine and also to raise much needed funds for the fabulous people at The Royal Marsden Breast Cancer Unit, Sutton I came upon the idea of a few girls challenging ourselves to walk 10 miles. Thus the 'Check your Bumps for Lumps' walk came about.
On May 1st this year, in brilliant sunshine 130 girls walked 10 miles through Ashtead and Leatherhead in pink tutu's and t shirts. We certainly raised a few eyebrows and hopefully awareness. We also raised a fabulous amount but would like to continue to raise a little more to help the Royal Marsden to help people like us. So if you would like to donate please do so, thank you. Sue x
