We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

"How are you? Fancy a drink? Let's meet up? Do you want a hug?"

These are all questions we used to take for granted and the resultant actions would keep us sane and foster strong relationships.

I don't know about you but I have been struggling a little during this rather bizarre, rollercoaster of a 2020, a year of political and social unrest, work stress, family pressures, relative social isolation, and plague. A year where you can't leave your house nor see your friends or family, a year where you know people dying or getting seriously ill (not necessarily directly due to COVID-19), whilst others disregard the rules for their own agendas; on the other hand however, knowing some of the context behind said rules and also the pragmatic application of said rule-breaking. Seeing people move on and grow whilst yourself feeling stagnant, feeling pressure to solve problems whilst not feeling supported to do so, feeling the pressure gauge build on the world stage and more locally at work, not being able to blow off steam healthily, not being able to ever feel like making progress; all whilst having this expectation to always put on a brave, positive face.

And I know I am one of the lucky ones. There are people much worse off, whether out of work, or struggle from anxiety or more established mental health issues, or are unable to see and feel those that we love most, to get that reassurance and comfort and loving embrace, to get away from life or get back to one, to those trapped in difficult situations such as violence, abuse or poverty/homelessness.

Therefore I want to use the opportunity to do something a little fun whilst I have a bit of excess hair to play with. I have had only one haircut this year (back in April) and thought why not auction off my hair to raise money and awareness for mental health, it's more important than ever, and mental health is also a killer.

So the deal is, vote for a hair colour or look by donating and writing your preferred choice, and the choice with the highest donation amount will be the winner. You can make multiple donations for multiple choices if you wish. There are also some bonuses for those able to donate larger single amounts. I am happy destroying any dignity I might have had for the sake of people's enjoyment and sanity so go nuts!

I will then be bound to action and maintain the winning choice for a period of 1 month. I will then go back to having my normal short hairstyle as long hair is way too much effort lol.
