Hi friends,
As I set out day by day running and training, I have become increasingly aware of those who can't afford to do the things I can. They spend there days in the cold, waiting for someone to be generous. Our world is over-indulging in the things we don't need, while others struggle for the basics.
I thought what better way to train for an Easter race, than to use it for the benefit of others. To raise awareness and funds for the less fortunate. During this time of lent, a time for renewing before Easter, we sacrifice small things, and what better way than to share the extra we have with the people who need it. The Cape needs water, the poor need food, children need education, and they all deserve a reason to smile every day. CAFOD aims to support those in need and the UK government has agreed to double all gift aided donations made through lent. So why not put the pound or two you save from giving up things during lent towards the wellbeing of a family.
