Story

In recent years, I have wanted to push myself to do a trek of some kind and Snowdon has been my recent goal. Due to having a weak leg and pin through the bone from a condition in my right tibia, which I was born with, I was never allowed to do PE at school and always knew I had to be extra careful and more cautious. This led me to not pushing myself and believing I could walk too much or too far. More recent years I have wanted to push my limits and see what I can achieve. I started to love the outdoors more and started to take myself out walking more often. I felt it was time to set this goal of Snowdon and begin pushing myself with training to make it happen, and why not raise money for some great charities whilst I'm there.

My Gran has had Alzhiemers a few years now, so raising money for Alzheimers Society is important to me. Her day to day now consists of moving from her bed at night, to a chair in the day. Some days she'll give easy conversation, and some days she's confused and doesn't make as much sense. It still amazes me, however, that she can sing 'Daisy Daisy' knowing all the words, if I start her off. It's lovely to hear. The image above is an older photo of my Gran.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
