We have competed in marathons, broken ribs and noses in charity It's a Knockout - and this year we are back in the water for Dragon Boat Racing for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research!

On 08 July 2012 ten crazy friends - and our inspirational drummer will be dressed up and getting into the rather questionable waters of the River Chelmer (yes rather you I hear you cry!) to race against 29 other teams. Given 2012 is the year of the Olympics each team will be given a suitably sporting theme... ours, well volleyball!

We have been raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research as a team for a number of years. We have even raced Dragon Boats before! We are known for our competetive nature - and that extends beyond our sporting prowess to the way we always want to be the team that raises the most money! So dig deep friends and family!!

Why do we do it? Well the money we raise helps to fund life saving research. Around 30,000 people of all ages - children, teenagers and adults are diagnosed with a blood cancer every year. The money we raise helps in the battle to give every one of them the best chance of survival.

Where does your money go - well £5 will give a new patient a supply of the Leukaemia and Lymphoma blood cancer information books. £25 pays for one sample of DNA to be analysed to identify genetic links to blood cancer. £50 funds PhD students for one day on the research project for blood cancer. £100 supports a research nurse for one day to help provide new treatments to blood cancer patients on one of our life-saving clinical trials... you can read more about your money at www.leukaemialymphomareasarch.org.uk

And we also do this in support of two wonderful people who inspire us every day - John and Sandra Reeve. They lost their son Tim in 2005. He was 23. John and Sandra are the ones who organised all the events we participate in and John is now a key member of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
