Update: 12th September 2018

Yesterday afternoon and even though we had a couple of last minute route changes due to the very high tide, at approximately 3.30pm, I arrived in Menia accompanied by my wife Janet and I managed to complete the 135 mile walk around Anglesey in six consecutive days.

It’s been a fantastic experience and I’m really humbled by all the support and kind donations received to date. During the six days, I spoke to numerous people on route who also kindly donated and with the remaining pledges; we have managed to surpass the target amount of £4,000.00.

I have recorded below a breakdown of the days and routes and I really look forward to posting my final update when I will confirm the total amount.

Day 1, 24.5 Miles - 06th Sept = Menia to Moelfre
Day 2, 22.0 Miles - 07th Sept = Cemaes Bay to Moelfre
Day 3, 21.5 Miles - 08th Sept = Stanley Embankment to Cemaes Bay
Day 4, 20.5 Miles - 09th Sept = Stanley Embankment to Rhoscolyn
Day 5, 23.5 Miles - 10th Sept = Rhoscolyn to Malltraeth
Day 6, 23.0 Miles - 11th Sept = Malltraeth to Menai

Grand Total: 135 Miles

I would highly recommend this walk and if anyone would like any route information or planning tips, please don’t hesitate to contact me (colinfloyd1@aol.com).

Finally, I would have never been able to complete this challenge without support and I would personally like to thank Janet who has dedicated her time to support me throughout the week, Rebecca for arranging the HSBC match funding, Eddy for accompanying me on day 4, Fraser for dropping me off in Menia on day 1, Shirley & Les for picking us up in Rhoscolyn on day 4 and Anne & Warwick for kindly looking after Fletch our 15 year old border terrier and helping with transportation around the island.

Many Thanks,

Colin.

Update: 09/09/2018

Had a great day today walking with my buddy Eddy approxiamtly 20.5 miles from Stanley Embankment to Rhoscolyn in just over eight hours. The weather was excellent and hopefully it stays good for the remaining two days.

Thank you again for all the kind donations and constant messages of support that keeps me motivated on route.

The total raised to date including pledges and match funding is £3,855.00 and I'm really confident that we may even surpass the target amount.

Tomorrow and all being well, I'm intending to set off from Rhoscolyn around 06:30 and hope to reach either Aberfraw or ideally Malltraeth before 15:00.

Many thanks,

Colin.

Update: 07/09/2018

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has kindly donated and all the positive messages received on social media.

I extended the route today and managed 22 miles setting off from Cemaes bay back to Moelfre in just under nine hours.

The weather was great and I'm looking forward to tomorrow, however, I think it will be waterproofs all day long. I intend to set off from Stanley Embankment around 6am and hope to arrive back in Cemaes Bay around 3pm.

On Sunday I will be setting off from Stanley Embankment towards Holyhead, however, I'm not sure off the end destination.

I will keep you updated on my progress and thanks again for all the support.

Colin.

Update: 28th August 2018

Only nine days to go before I set off from Menia on the 06th September at 6am. The fund raising is going really well and with my daughters match funding from HSBC and other pledges the current total is £3175.00 and I would like to thank everyone for all the their kind donations to date.

Weather permitting and subject to an unplanned rest day on the 09th, I currently intend to achieve the following walks and if anyone would like to join me for a brisk stroll along the way, please don't hesitate to tag along:
06th Sept = Menia to Moelfre
07th Sept = Amlwch to Moelfre
08th Sept = Penrhyn Farm Cottages to Amlwch
09th Sept = Penrhyn Farm Cottages Bay to Treaddur Bay
10th Sept = Treaddur Bay to Aberffraw
11th Sept = Aberffraw to Menai

The routes and dates may change but will be updated on a daily basis.
Once again, thank you for your kind donations, it's a great cause and the money will be well spent.

Original Story:

Hi my name is Colin and I am a volunteer at North Clwyd Animal Rescue, where I spend most weekends walking the rescue dogs and have previously helped with DIY jobs in some areas of the rescue.

For those of you who visit NCAR, you will notice that some of the old front barns, where the rescue dogs are housed, are in need of some improvements and TLC. The roofs have been leaking during the bad weather and winter months and the rescue are desperate to complete some renovations to ensure that all of the beautiful rescue dogs are feeling as warm, dry and cosy as possible, until they find their forever homes.

There are renovation plans in place to fully revamp the kennels but considering the rescue completely rely on generous donations and do not receive any local government funding, then there are currently not enough funds in place to complete the full job.

Therefore, in September I plan to complete a 135 mile sponsored trek around the whole of the Anglesey coastal path, in just 6 days, in the aim to raise at least £4000. The donations will be put towards the cost of installing a new roof across the kennel barns, and any additional donations will be put towards further projects on the barns.

If you are keen to help the rescue and our furry friends then please donate. Anything will be greatly received.

If you would like to learn more about this fantastic charity then please visit their website www.ncar.org.uk, you may even find yourself a companion.

Thank you
