Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Three Children's Charities Bike Ride and Walk is an annual event which supports the Friends of the Nigel Hunter Nursery, The Forest Of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre and the Milestone School Summer Holiday Activity Scheme. The bikeride is a 25 mile cross country cycle trail around the Forest of Dean.

The Forest of Dean Children's opportunity Centre offers specialist therapy, play and support to children from birth to seven years, with physical difficulties and early childhood autism, both at the purpose-built centre in Coleford and in their family homes.  Children can attend regular sessions during term time and there is a thriving holiday play scheme.

The Milestone Holiday Activity Scheme is based at Milestone School, the largest ‘special school’ in Gloucestershire, which takes children from 21 to 16 years.  Many of these children have disabilities which are so severe that they cannot access mainstream holiday activities.  The scheme aims to offer days out, packed with fun and excitement, through activities designed for these very special children and run by their own teaching assistants in the familiar surroundings of their own school.

The Nigel Hunter Nursery is a specialist therapy centre for babies and children aged from birth to three years with severe disability or development delay.  It has a range of specialist teachers, health professionals and therapists, who work with parents to encourage children to achieve their goals through play.  It has a sensory room and garden and caters for children with hearing and visual impairment as well as physical difficulties.  The Friends charity supports the nursery by providing specialist equipment and staff, supporting families and organising fun events for the children.
