Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis, working to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. It’s a fight that involves all of us – sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together. Join us.

Story

In May of 2014 my best friend was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (aged 48.) This was a huge shock - I had previously associated diabetes with people who exercised little or had unhealthy lifestyles that contributed to the problem (Type 2.) I had no idea of the realities of life for those with Type 1 - the daily injections, constant monitoring of bloods, attention to food quantities etc.

I decided to raise awareness and money. Organising a team of 6 to undertake such an event has been a challenge in itself and is ongoing. I don't have a background of swimming per se, so physically it takes me totally OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE.

One of my teammates, Claire Wilson (who is super speedy and technically in a different league - I'm in awe!) decided to join me in the fundrasing. Please help us to raise our target.

Channel Swim: 21-22nd September 2015.

Thank you. Cress & Claire.
