On the 22nd June, 2018 our group of 6 players from Cruden Bay Golf Club plan to play 6 rounds of golf at 6 different courses in one day. We decided to do this fundraiser as a dear friend of ours was recently diagnosed with Bowel cancer and this inspired us to get together and raise money doing what we love for sufferers of this disease. Our whole group caddy throughout the summer and due to this illness, Phil sadly had to stop. This gave us reason to get together as although he might not be able to participate in this challenge, we are all able and believe that the more funding that is put towards research, the sooner the cure will be found. This is imperative as cancer is a very widespread disease, so much so that on average, 4 in 10 people will develop cancer and although cancer is well supported in this country, with many large organisations supporting the cause, this is never enough. Money raised not only goes towards research for cure, but can also go towards other essentials; such as Cancer chat and treatment. The money raised will be in support of CLAN. CLAN is a large organisation that try to provide the best help and support to the people that approach them. CLAN have provided a lot of help to Phil and will continue to do so until he, hopefully, gets better. They have 11 centres across Scotland and with enough funding will be able to open up even more centres around the country to make them more accessible for everyone.
