Story

I am raising money for PACT Animal Sanctuary by running 2 half marathons in 2017. They are the largest all animal sanctuary and rescue centre in Norfolk and Suffolk. They operate a strict no kill policy and support not only some of the most vulnerable animals in my local area but also run an international emergency kennel appeal to help rescue dogs from some of the most terrible suffering and death.
It was a personal decision to start running "properly". I found myself not exercising as much when I began working full time and commuting to work. I was eating more unhealthy foods and spending more time on the couch. I found myself more exhausted and frustrated at the weekends and evenings than I was used to. However, on May 2nd 2016 I began training for the Norwich 10km. I ran 5km that day in 23:48. On November 10th 2016 I ran 5km in 19:58. This was a result of reducing the sugar in my diet, eating breakfast regularly, and committing to regular training sessions. Now, I want to put this hard-work to good use by supporting a worthy cause.
Currently, I donate just a small portion of my monthly salary to PACT but I wanted to do more to support them in a way that I can. I strongly believe we have a responsibility towards those who are dependent on, and vulnerable to, us and want to support the great work that PACT do on a daily basis. While what I do will not compare to their great work, I am pledging to do my bit by running 2 half marathons in 2017, Worthing and Norwich. Not only that I am pledging to run both in under 1hr 30mins.
To reach this goal in under a year of training will be a massive personal achievement for me. I hope you can pledge whatever you can to support me in reaching my goal so we, together, can support some vulnerable animals!
