I'm running the Milton Keynes Half Marathon because this is a HUGE challenge for me, so I'm hoping my friends and family will donate to this extremely important cause to make all of the pain feel worthwhile! I've never run a race before (even a 5k!) so a Half Marathon is going to take a lot of work. Thankfully I have my fundraising for Winter Night Shelter MK to motivate me.

WNSMK provides supervised overnight accomodation and meals to homeless and vulnerable people who would otherwise be sleeping rough in Milton Keynes during the coldest months of the year. They work with churches and community centres across MK who kindly donate their facilities as an overnight venue. Night Shelter staff and volunteers also provide support year-round including helping people to access drug and alcohol support services, giving housing advice, and helping people to find long term accomodation and work.

People from all walks of life get help from Night Shelter - some are old others are young; some are men others are women; some are long-term homeless others are victims of cirumstances like loosing their jobs, illness, mental health struggles or stolen idenity documents. Without a supportive network of family and friends, homelessness can happen to anyone.
