Die eigene Familiengründung steht unmittelbar bevor – ein Zeitpunkt, an dem man noch mehr als zuvor über Werte im Leben nachdenkt und sich fragt, was wirklich erhaltungswürdig für die nächste Generation ist. Dabei ist mir wenig mit der Wichtigkeit des Planeten, auf dem wir leben, in den Sinn gekommen. Um einen kleinen Beitrag zum Erhalt der Natur zu leisten, habe ich die preisgekrönte Organisation Save the Elephants ausgesucht und dieses Projekt bei Justgiving ins Leben gerufen. Bei Save the Elephants kämpfen engagierte Menschen für wehrlose Tiere. Elefanten leben in sehr sozialen Strukturen, haben ein sehr komplexes Bewusstsein und starke Gefühle – nun werden sie aus niederen Beweggründen bis an den Rand des Aussterbens gebracht:

• Ursprünglich waren es einmal 27 Millionen afrikanische Elefanten
• Ende der 70er Jahre zählte man 1,3 Millionen 
• Heute leben nur noch 350.000 afrikanische Elefanten auf unserer Erde und die Anzahl nimmt weiter ab

Save the Elephants setzt genau da an und:

• Hilft Lebewesen, die sich nicht selbst helfen können
• Ist gut organisiert und wird von namenhaften Trustees aus renommierten Unternehmen und Positionen vertreten
• Hat Ansätze, die nachhaltig – bspw. durch Bildung der Bevölkerung – Besserung bringen sollten

Founding my own family, I am reflecting even more on what values do really count in life and what is worth preserving for the next generation. Not many came to my mind being equally important as the planet we

At Save the Elephants ambitious humans fight for the

strong emotions – now they are murdered because of abject motives and brought to the edge of
extinction:
