We help people living with sight loss and other disabilities to achieve their ambitions and go beyond expectations. We believe wherever they are, everyone has the right to an independent and fulfilling life. Our support enables people and their families to build skills and develop confidence.

Story

My name is Danny I am 30 years old. I am registered blind, due to an eye condition known as Retinitis Pigmentosa. This condition starts in childhood and progressively gets worse over time. This condition has caused me a considerable amount of sight loss. I have very little usable sight, which affects me on a day to day basis. Over the years I have spent a lot of time in denial regarding my sight loss, I just wanted a normal life of driving, watching football and admiring beautiful women. I have lost a lot of confidence, which has affected my independence and self worth. I was at a low point in my life when I came across the charity Henshaws society for blind people. I can honestly say they have changed my life. They have helped me to gain my confidence back, by providing help with travelling independently, living skills, confidence building using sport and friends that I can relate to as we share similar sight loss journeys. For this I am truly grateful to them. To show my appreciation this June I will be raising money for them by doing a sky dive. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If my challenge does not make you want to put your hand in your pocket, then surely watching a grown man cry should be worth a donation.
