Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

Half of those with CF will not live past age 41. We don't want Beth to be one of them.  But she might be - along with thousands of others affected by cystic fibrosis.  Until the right drugs are made freely available it's critical that we fund cutting-edge research and support people with the condition and their loved ones every step of the way.

So why do a 5km park run, a 10 miler or even a full marathon when you can jump straight in to a 40 mile ultra-marathon?  The Surrey Hills are an area of outstanding natural beauty so there'll be stunning scenery and plenty to look at....... if I can lift my head up, stop staring at the road in front and wipe the sweat from my eyes.

There's an awful lot of people asking for your money these days.  Beth hates to ask you as well but she needs it.... and I'm going to run 40 miles to earn it.
