Story

Most people have no idea that each year around the world 3.3 million babies die in the first 28 days of life and the majority on the first day. Every baby is born with an equal right to life but not an equal chance of survival.  The specialist care and dedicated nursing and equipment that we take for granted will be there when our baby needs it is not the reality for millions of parents in poor countries. In Vietnam neonatal mortality accounts for 60% of all deaths in children under one year old.

The critical shortage of trained nurses and equipment as well as limited knowledge are major factors in why the newborn death rate remains high in Vietnam.  Nurses are critical to newborns survival - funds from Cycle a Difference will support the first newborn nurse training programme, it will be taught by Canterbury Christ Church University in Da Nang in partnership with the local college.

By participating in Cycle a Difference I have a unique opportunity to help advance newborn care in Vietnam and reduce the number of newborn deaths. All the riders are united by our desire to give every newborn the chance to survive, we will be training together and helping each other to raise the sponsorship, this will be a great team experience and a chance to share a unique experience.  This is a fantastic cycling challenge for a great cause and one with very direct benefits, please give me your 100% support and donate generously.
