I know you’re all busy people, so I’ll keep this short…

WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?

One in eight men in the UK will get prostate cancer, which
is bloody awful. Prostate Cancer UK is leading the fight against prostate
cancer and they’ve set themselves an incredibly tough challenge – to stop
prostate cancer from being a killer.

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO HELP?

I’ve teamed up with Tony Clegg, Employee Director at First
Manchester, to raise some cash to help fund the fantastic work that Prostate
Cancer UK are doing. 

Now, we both know how hard you all work for your money, so
we wanted to work hard for it too. So, we sensibly decided one drunken evening
in July last year to enter the Ironman UK. What a great idea that seemed until
the training started!! We’ve both been training hard over the past 12 months in
Bolton’s tropical climate so that we’re ready for the challenge. While you’re
tucked up in bed at 6am over the next few Sunday mornings, we’ll be swimming
through shopping trolleys and plastic bags so that we can get our last few bits
of prep done before the race in just under 5 weeks’ time. As well as dodging
floating obstacles in the local reservoir we’ve also had to try and dodge a few
nutters on the road, having been hit by two cars (both LSIs, but don’t tell the
wife!) I’m now lit up like a Christmas tree! And if you were wondering how far
you can skid on wet tarmac, ask Tony…!
