We support young people to follow their dreams and ambitions

Story

As part of the criteria for the Air Cadet Junior Leaders course (JL) every student of the course sets up a fundraiser for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF).

The Junior Leaders course is a leadership course which is run the the Air Training Corps (ATC) and is one of the best courses the ATC has to offer as it teaches vital leadership and planning skills that can be used in both civilian and military life.

The JTYAF was set up in the name of John Thornton following his tragic accident whilst serving as a Marine officer in Afghanistan, his parents set up the JTYAF. This was because his one wish was that a charity was set up in his name to help anyone to achieve their full potential.

The Junior Leaders course has supported this charity for many years since it was set up, as it is a very deserving charity as it helps people from all backgrounds achieve their dreams.

The team taking part in this fundraiser consists of four members who will be embarking on the West Highland Way which is a famous 96 mile walk in Scotland. This walk will take us from Milngavie to Fort William. We aim to do the walk in a maximum of five days. The members of the team are Dean Callan, Sam Paxton, Scott Queen and Robert Taylor.
