The reason I'm launching my album in such a big and scary way (for me) is because sadly, Stephen Robert Sutton MBE can’t.

I had the very good fortune to be in the company of Stephen Sutton at this year’s St. James’s Place annual conference. As you will all know, Stephen lost his brave fight for life on the 14th May this year.

However, back in January Stephen inspired me to take my project to another level. His passion, energy and zest for life were simply overwhelming. There I was sitting in the 02 Arena, listening to this young man tell us his story and of his final chapter yet to come and I felt I needed to do more with my life. Unlike Stephen, I am alive, I can have dreams and most importantly, I have my health.

So out of respect for Stephen and his life that was cut short far too soon, I am fulfilling a dream. The fact that I still have the ability to do this, to go for a walk in the woods on a Sunday morning, to enjoy my family and friends and have the occasional pint and a curry, is a small miracle and one that I should remember when life isn’t so good.

Within my own family cancer has played its part in creating its misery. Some battles have been won, some sadly lost. Therefore, I also dedicate the launch of my album to my own family, who have won and lost their fight against cancer.
