Alison and I became friends when we started attending the same baby group with Lucy and Archie near Crystal Palace 11 years ago. These were the days of sleepless nights and I will admit that some of this time is a bit of a blur but I vividly remember her upbeat and generous character. 

Alison and Matt's family grew and they decided to leave London, but social media enabled us to stay in touch. Bertie, who is now 6, is their youngest child and suffers from Muscular Dystrophy. Since the diagnostic #Team Bertie has done a fantastic job raising awareness of disability issues, fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy&Able Child Africa and generally dealing with the ups and downs of family life with a rare disease.
