We bring love and care to vulnerable people to transform communities through God

Story

Thank you, for visiting my JustGiving page to find out more about the mission project I am going to be involved in, in Malawi, Southeast Africa.

'There is Hope', Malawi

The World Bank has ranked Malawi as the poorest nation on earth. Its severe underdevelopment and lack of resources means that most of its people rely on fragile subsistence farming. They are in desperate need of help to bring sustainable change to the country.

'There is Hope' is a Christian, non-profit, non-Governmental organisation that assists people at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp, the biggest and until recently the only refugee camp in Malawi. The camp was established in 1994 to provide safety and refuge to the many people fleeing conflict and war and it is currently home to about 25,000 people, more than half of whom are just children or young people. The major issue for all of the refugees in Dzaleka is the fact that they are not allowed to work. There are generations of generations of people who have never been allowed to work.

‘There is Hope’ helps these most vulnerable of people by increasing their access to education, skills and jobs. They also provide encouragement, help and micro-finance to help start small businesses or other income-generating activities. Their goal is to enable people to escape poverty and begin to build a future for themselves by earning an income and begin to support themselves.

The Project

In October 2016 I will be travelling to Malawi to provide specialist media help to 'There is Hope' and their work in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp. I am donating my time and skills in videography, photography and web design to help document and promote their work by providing high-quality images, short films and other media resources. As well as volunteering to develop their publicity, on-line presence, build a new website,  and fundraising work I will also be providing workshops for young people in Dzaleka to help inspire a new generation for their future.

I need substantial financial help to make this project possible. I will be in Malawi for 4-6 weeks and will be continuing to work on the project for several months on my return to the UK. My fundraising goal is

to cover the costs of travel, visas, insurances and living expenses while I’m abroad as well as the costs of some essential equipment and teaching resources for the project.

Please help me reach this goal by giving as generously as you can. You can give by clicking the ‘Donate’ button on this page or by texting “DYAN72 £5” or “DIYAN72 £10” to 70070.

Sharing this page with your friends, family and colleagues will also help me reach this target so please share the link to this page. To find out more about the incredible work of 'There is Hope" use the link below

Everything that you give will go directly to this project to support the ongoing work of 'There is Hope' as they enable some of the poorest people in the world to begin supporting themselves.
