I, along with many others, have been profoundly affected by the recent images of refugees making desperate and often fatal journeys to escape their unstable and war-torn countries. The 'lucky' ones that gain entry to the U.K have lived through unimaginable horrors and, although they are in a safer place, have nothing apart from the clothes they are standing in. The Scottish Refugee Council work to give direct assistance to those seeking asylum and by donating to them, you are helping at the very difficult and traumatic first stages of resettlement. The website explains all the work they do, so please do have a read, I'm sure you'll agree that they offer invaluable service and support. I have been overwhelmed by the amount of interest and hope that our large numbers will make a big impact and raise more awareness locally of the plight of these desperate people.
