Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are running the London Marathon in April 2019 in memory of Steve.  It was the marathon he always wanted to do but never got the chance to and as such we will be running this for him.

For us, running a marathon has always seemed a step (or rather thousands of steps) too far!  However, it has always been an ambition of both of ours to do one and we are more determined than ever to do this as we approach our 40s!  Running the marathon will be an incredibly difficult challenge for us.  We both have very hectic family lives and training together will be extremely limited due to living hundreds of miles apart.  But with all your support and encouragement, we will give it our all and our very best efforts.  We have no time goal in mind, we just simply want to get round in one piece!

We are hoping in the process to raise as much money as possible for Brain Tumour Research.  Our marathon places have been granted to us by this incredible charity and our ambition is to raise a minimum of £6000 for them.  Brain Tumour Research is a Milton Keynes based, national charity who are doing incredible work to help raise the awareness of BT's.  The charity financially supports 4 centres of excellence throughout the Country, with its aim to try to find effective treatments for this devastating disease.  Brain Tumour Research has historically been underfunded and as a result, the disease continues to be life limiting and the prognosis for those living with a BT poor.  Steve died just 21 months post his diagnosis of a Grade IV tumour aged just 37 years.  In Steve's memory, we want to help change this for future generations.

Thank you for your continued support and wish us luck........We are going to need it!!!!! xxx

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
