Story
I am giving up my bed! On October 31st I will be joining other CEO’s from a wide range of industries in giving up my bed for one night and sleeping rough outdoors to raise awareness and funds for homeless people in London.
I know that this in no way equates to the difficulties the
homeless face, but is just a small gesture on my part by collectively joining other leaders to actually do something practical to help.
Some years ago I spent time with the homeless in Toronto and
got to hear about some of their experiences – the sub-zero temperatures, the lack of hope or support – a situation I can only imagine. This has stayed with me and is part of the reason I’m keen to be part of the CEO Sleepout, mindful and grateful that I will be returning to the safety and warmth of my own home the day after.
I know that we all receive many requests for donations, but I also know that homelessness can affect a wide range of people who may just
experience a sequence of ‘bad stuff’ – this could easily happen to someone we know – so if you could made any donation at all it would be very much appreciated.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
This ground-breaking event is being held in partnership with Depaul UK who provide essential and life-changing support to homeless people in
London. The CEO Sleepout will support the priceless work of these charities and other local charitable projects – almost every penny raised directly supports the relief of homelessness and poverty. The ultimate goal is to help make London and our major cities a fairer and better place in which to live, work and do business. Thanks in advance for any help you can be.
Cheers, Doug
