We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

In January 2016 I sat alongside a great man and watched, helplessly, as Cancer took him from his family.

I later delivered the Eulogy to his family, friends, neighbours, colleagues and saw in their faces, the tears, pain and grief at the loss..................... and confusion as to the why !!

We have to beat this !

I am 54 and at the start of this adventure was 18 1/2 stone with the last time I ran anywhere being for the school bus !

My challenge is to ride 2500 miles in 5 days, through France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Sweden  to Tromso in Norway on a BMW R 1200 GS motorbike.

I will then run the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromso which is the most Northerly Marathon on the International Circuit and actually takes place within the Arctic Circle on the 18th June 2016.

The following day I will commence the journey home.

This equates to an average of 500 miles and 10 hours per day in the saddle, for 10 days.

This is a start from scratch challenge in terms of fitness and I hope you will find my effort worthy of donation.

Cancer unfortunately touches everyone, stealing the heart out of families and prematurely ending many, many lives.

My hope is that I can not just raise money for the Cancer Research UK organisation, but also raise awareness to self-screening, life style adjustments and the "clinical trials".

The money raised will clearly be recorded by this "Just Giving" page and Cancer Research UK, but the awareness I would like to be recorded by encouraging everyone to post a link to their friends on their Facebook page and then invite "likes" from their friends.

The more "likes", the more people who have taken a moment to consider the self-screening, life style adjustments and the work undertaken within the "Clinical trials". and therefore hopefully, the greater the awareness.

This great man took part in a number of clinical trials and although it will never be known whether these extended his life, they certainly gave him hope and an opportunity to take a positive step towards finding a cure, if not for himself, then for others.

I want to keep that hope alive...........
