Brave the shave / Hair donation · 17 February 2018

At Bluebell Wood, we care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We support hundreds of families, both in our hospice and in family homes. It costs around £6.5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive 16% Statutory funding.

Story

Dougie

On the 17th of January 2015 my dad and i rushed home to Scotland after being told my little sister was in hospital with a suspected brain tumour. For the next 24 hours we as a family felt what countless families feel everyday around the world. Thankfully my sister was later diagnosed less serious condition called a cavernoma. After a long recovery she raised money and donated her hair for charity, so i pledged to do the same and grew my hair!

Louise

I spent 15 years nursing the terminally ill and have watched my best friend lose her Hair three times during her fight with cancer , she would never let me shave my head .
I’ve been without her for a long time now and to honour her memory and to show support to people fighting their own battles it’s the least I can do , my hair will grow back ♥️

The brave the shave day will be held at Castle Park on the 17th of February. After the Doncaster knights play Hartpury.
