Five years ago I was inspired.  I was moved by the book I read written by Jane and Mike Tomlinson ("The Luxury of Time") about how she (and her family) lived with terminal cancer, faced its challenges and achieved inspite of it.

I took to the streets and ran the London Marathon, raising just over £5,000 in the process.  As I crossed the finish line I vowed I would never do another marathon.  The sustained pounding, the muscles screaming, the mental exhaustion, had drained me.

And I haven't.

Until now.

Five years and four fundraising challenges later and I am once again facing the horror that is running 26.2miles.  Only this time I will have the bonus of a wonderful friend, the irrepressable Mr Skedge, running with me.

Same charity, same distance, different year.
