Story

Fundraising in memory of

Lt Edward Drummond-Baxter and

LCpl Siddhanta Kunwar to build a school in Nepal

*FUNDING TARGET HAS BEEN REACHED AND SCHOOL                                                     BUILD IS NOW COMPLETE*

November 2018: The rebuilding of Shree Saraswoti Secondary School in Ramechhap District, Nepal, is the largest community aid project taken on by GWT since the earthquake and, in a single operation, has delivered a new school on a new site to a remote community which was hit hard in 2015.

14 new classrooms have been delivered together with gender specific toilets.

It is however of particular note that this project was chosen to honour the memories of Lt Edward Drummond Baxter and LCpl Siddhantha Kunwar . The result is a memorial to two gallant soldiers that will serve this community for many years to come, and, as the school extends its capacity to Higher Secondary level, this will give generations of local children improved access to education and in turn a better future.

On behalf of the students and teachers of Shree Thank you for all your hard work and support over the past 2 years - it has been worth it!

March 2017: We are hoping to raise £98,000 in order to rebuild Shree Saraswoti Secondary School in Ramechhap District, Nepal, which was damaged during the 2015 earthquake. Any extra funds will contribute toward other projects run by Gurkha Welfare Trust inside Nepal.

Ed and Siddhanta served as members of the Royal Gurkha Rifles. They were tragically killed whilst serving alongside one another in Afghanistan in 2012.
