Story
On June 8th Eilir, Mark, Mike, Andrew and Phil will attempt to cycle from one end of Britain to the other, in 10 days. We will be cycling unassisted, carrying all of our gear, averaging approx. 100 miles each day.
Our aim is to raise enough money to buy 10 bicycles for disadvantaged children in Africa. World Bike Relief is a fantastic charity that empowers individuals and communities with the simple gift of transportation.
The huge challenges stemming from poor education, lack of healthcare and limited economic opportunities are complex and myriad. Walking is the primary mode of transportation for many people in the developing world. Everyday tasks can quickly become a struggle against time and fatigue. Their challenge is the barrier of distance.
A simple bicycle costing £95 may be all that is needed to overcome that barrier of distance and can represent a quantum leap in opportunity and productivity. By providing bicycles to children, especially girls, we can empower them with knowledge and ultimately, change the course of their lives.’
World Bicycle Relief believes in a world where distance is no longer a barrier to education, healthcare and economic opportunity. Our mission is to provide sustainable, appropriate bicycle transportation to mobilise and empower individuals and communities so they can travel to schools, clinics and markets.
We would be really grateful if you help us in this quest.
