Story

I have decided to take on a huge physical challenge and take part in a once in a life time achievement by cycling from London to Paris over 4 days. This is all in aid of Parkinson's UK.

I have not personally been affected directly with this disease however my friend Harriet's amazing Mum was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease back in 2014 and we wanted to do something amazing to support this charity and also do something crazy in at the same time. As we all know, life is worth living to the full!

It's a long way to go (470km), together we will be cycling approx 80 miles a day. Both Hattie and I are taking part and we will be there to support each other along the way, when we get tired, have sore legs and our bottoms are seriously hurting. Our main aim (other than to get there in one piece) is to raise awareness and get some much needed donations for Parkinson's UK.

The money we raise will go towards benefiting the everyday lives of people affected with this horrible disease. Parkinson’s UK work with researchers to not only help find a cure but develop better treatments to control symptoms on a day to day basis. Scientists believe that 5% of cases of Parkinson's are inherited and ongoing genetic's research is helping to understand this type of Parkinson's to develop new and better treatments.

My training started several months ago as we do need to be physically fit to take on this challenge and to be able to get back on the bike again and again after hours in the saddle.  During my training months to keep me motivated and pushing forward I have already taken part in the Forest of Dean Half Marathon and coming up in July I am also running in a 24 hour team relay race which should be, how do I put it, HARD WORK!?

If you have read this and also feel inspired to do something for charity, why not sign up for your own charity challenge. It gives you a goal to work towards and a huge sense of achievement when you have completed it!

NOW... the most important part! I have to raise £1500 and I need you to help me with this. However small a donation please can you spare some money to help me and Hattie smash this!?

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
