Story

In 2019 I will be lucky enough to be 50 and fit and healthy. To celebrate I am running over 50 miles in the Brighton and London Marathons, setting myself a tough challenge to finish in under 3 hours 50 minutes.

Whilst tough, I am actually getting the opportunity to do something I will absolutely love. Some people are not so lucky and I would like to raise awareness of the amazing support that Weston Hospicecare offer our local community and what a difference they can make to families facing really tough challenges.

Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis can be difficult, not just for the patient but also for their loved ones. At Weston Hospicecare, the team of palliative care experts is dedicated to working together to provide specialist support. Their social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical care helps guide people through one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. With only 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, they have to raise £4 million each year to fund the care - something that's only made possible by generous support from the community.

I will be organising fund raising events and will appreciate any support that you can give.

I am running the Christmas Cracker on Sunday 9th December so look out for my first outing proudly in a  Weston Hospicecare vest (and maybe a bit of tinsel)
