We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

This year I will be taking part in the great north run to help raise money and awareness for brain tumour research. Most importantly i will be doing it for my two year old son Finlay and all the other brave and courageous children that are currently fighting this horrible disease. Back in February of this year myself and my husband where given the horrible news those words you would never want or have to hear  as a parent "were really sorry but your son has a brain tumour". The type of brain tumour Finlay had removed was a choroid plexus carcinoma an extremely rare cancerous brain tumour. He was in the operating theatre for 12 hours it felt like a life time for us and when we were given the call he was out of theatre I just wanted to rush down there and hold my little boy forever. But first we had to speak with the surgeons who then advised us that they thought it was cancerous but we would have to wait for the pathology report to come back to know for definite. The next five days were horrendous waiting for the news but sure enough the fifth day came and we were given the  horrible news that it was cancerous even worse than that we were told that the five year survival for these types of tumours is 20% We were in complete shock  not us I thought things like this don't happen to people like us. I cried until I had no tears left and I just didn't know how I was going to cope without my little boy every time I held him I just cried. Why? why him? I would think to myself. We then got some other news about the pathology report the consultant advised us that Finlay's tumour also had some papilloma cells around the outside and the middle was cancerous. Meaning it could have started as a benign tumour. That was it that was my little bit of hope to cling on to it could have all been cancerous but it wasn't the consultant will stress to me how predominantly it was cancerous quite a lot but I just need to stay positive for Finlay and he's not a statistic he's my son and every single day he's getting better and better he's currently about to start his fourth cycle of chemotherapy which by the way he is smashing through them 💪🏼 and up to now all of his scans have been clear and we're hopeful they will remain clear. Finlay is doing fantastic and has come such a long way from the little boy who he was before he had his tumour removed despite everything he has been through he always has a huge smile on his face he is the most loving little boy and he is a true inspiration to us and everyone who meets him he's our little soildier who continues to amaze us every single day with his bravery and his strength. But we all really do need to raise more funds and awareness to help fund the fight for all those amazing people currently fighting against brain tumours.and hopefully one day find a cure ❤️

Please donate Whatever you can

Thank you xx
