Unfortunately my Grandad is suffering from Motor Neurone Disease (MND). It's a horrible disease which attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. MND has left my Grandad unable to walk, feed himself and impaired his speech. The devasting news is there is no cure and it continues to deteriorate the body.
My Grandad was the most energetic person I knew, he was constantly moving and on the go. To watch him sit in his chair, with the loss of his independence is heartbreaking.
So with that being said, I'm running my first marathon to raise awareness of MND and to provide funds, to allow the ongoing support given to families and patients affected.
£30 can provide adapted cutlery to help someone with MND continue to feed themselves.
£120 can fund a specialist communications app for a tablet/laptop.
£900 could fund a riser recliner armchair, helping to make someone with MND more comfortable. My Grandad spends his whole day in a chair like this.
Every penny counts and will be benefited by those affected.
I appreciate you taking the time to donate and reading why this is so important to me. Stay tuned to follow my progress and training.
