Story

My son Harry is 12 years old and he is raising funds for Kings College Hospital Charity. He hopes to raise enough funds to purchase a wheelchair for the Rays of Sunshine ward, a specialist children's ward for children with gastrointestinal and liver disease.

In May 2016 my son Harry, then aged just seven years old, was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Ulcerative Colitis), a chronic disease of the digestive tract. He was diagnosed at Kings College Hospital, London and he is under the specialist care of the Paediatric Gastroenterologist Team.

In September 2020, during the covid pandemic, Harry became acutely unwell and he was admitted to Kings where he stayed for six days. Harry was subsequently diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis, a rare and Chronic Liver Disease associated with Ulcerative Colitis.

As the current wheelchair for Rays of Sunshine needs replacing, Harry would like to raise enough money for a new one.

Harry will be walking three miles on Saturday 10 April from Greenwich Park to Mudchute Farm and back again. Three miles may not seem like a great distance but one of the symptoms of IBD and PSC is fatigue. Accompanying Harry will be me, his dad, his brother Dylan who will be running the distance and Harry's sister Olivia. Peewee and Max our Westies will also be on the walk.

To finish off our fundraising activities, Harrys dad will be one of the first flyers at Hangloose, Bluewater flying over 700m : )
