Spread a Smile brings joy and laughter to seriously ill children in NHS hospitals and hospices across the country. Through in-person and virtual visits and events, our entertainers enhance wellbeing and help families cope with the pain and anxiety of serious illness and hospitalisation.

Story

Spread a Smile takes magicians, artists, singers, poets, face-painters,
fairies and therapy dogs into 5 of London’s largest hospitals to entertain
children who are seriously and terminally ill. Annually, Spread a Smile entertains over 6,000 children. They also take whole families on VIP days out and put on special events, like their Winter Party, helping to create positive memories at an otherwise bleak and stressful time.

Their visits can lift a child’s spirits – giving them something to look forward to. A whole new positive focus. Their visits, which also include siblings and other family members, help distract a child from pain, treatment and boredom and allow them to experience normal childhood activities. Their simple goal is to spread smiles and laughter at a time when young people and their families need it the most.

We wanted to support Spread a Smile through fundraising, and decided to do something that would be a real challenge. We are delighted, and petrified, to be abseiling the ArcelorMittal Orbit in June and any donations would be gratefully accepted.

Big thanks,

Stevie, Nicole, Jodie and Gemma XXX
